One of Queensland’s most iconic sporting experiences returns to the Gold Coast in 2014 for the 36th Gold Coast Airport Marathon.
Around 30,000 participants, supporters and volunteers are expected to travel to the picturesque Gold Coast to compete in this much anticipated event.
The Queensland Government recognises the importance of high-calibre international sporting events such as this in driving visitation, supporting the state’s tourism industry and delivering a boost to the local economy.
The Gold Coast Airport Marathon attracts thousands of visitors from across the globe including Japan, Europe, Africa, the United States, New Zealand and Asia.
This event continues to go from strength to strength with the Gold Coast Airport Marathon taking out the title of QSport 2013 Queensland Sport Event at the Queensland Sport Awards.
With just over four years until the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games in April 2018, there is an exciting time for events and sport in Queensland ahead of us.
The Queensland Government, through Tourism and Events Queensland, is proud to support major events such as the Gold Coast Airport Marathon as part of our commitment to double overnight visitor expenditure from $15 billion to $30 billion by 2020.
