  • About the event:TRAVERSE RUN offers five stages of varied terrain, amazing scenery, and wildlife viewing. The course is raceable by the experienced, challenging to adventurers, and rewarding for all. The race takes place on fast single track, slow and technical single track, and double track safari roads.

    Although our time cutoffs are lenient enough for most participants to finish, you should be aware that north Tanzania’s geography, flora and fauna — while spectacular to witness — are also formidable obstacles with which to contend. Runners will encounter challenging terrain, high elevations, thorns, wildlife and more thorns.

    The course will consist of:
    Total distance of approximately 250km (155mi)
    5 stages of 45-80km (28-50mi) each
    Total climbing of 4000+m (13000ft)
    Extremely varied terrain, geography and temperatures
    Some very technical terrain and a lot of thorns
    A climb to 3450m (11300ft) elevation on Kilimanjaro’s Shira Plateau
    The best finish line in sport (Lake Natron, pictured)

    Transport to West Kili race village from Kilimanjaro Airport (JRO) or Arusha area hotel
    Meet other participants, optional run, recover from jet lag

    Wednesday, 11th June
    10:30 - 12:30 Registration and packet pickup
    14:00 Welcome and race briefing
    Optional morning or afternoon runs + massages

    Thursday - Monday, 12th - 16th June
    5:15 - 6:30 breakfast
    Races begin at 7:00
    Lunches available 12:30 - 16:30, dinners 19:15
    Next stage race briefing at the campfire 5 minutes after sunset
    Post-race awards & celebration dinner on 16th June

    Tuesday, 17th June
    8:00 Runner transport to Arusha + lunch
    14:30 Ongoing transport to area hotel, Kilimanjaro Airport, or further travel
  • Registration:TRAVERSE RUN is more than just 5 days of running; it’s a truly all-inclusive adventure. Experience extraordinary hospitality for 8 days and 7 nights in Tanzania, 10 - 17 June. From the moment you exit the airport until you enjoy your last beer and are delivered to departures for your return flight, you will find we really have thought of — and provided — everything.

    Race categories are solo (male and female) and 2-person relay (male, female, mixed).

    In order to ensure a premier experience, the 2025 field will be limited to 70 registered runners. Registration will close when sold out or on 31st March.
